Your Help Is Needed
Dear Friends,
My name is Eric and I need your support as I gear up and train for the ride of my life. In October of 2008 I will be riding my bike from San Diego, California to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in an effort to raise money for two causes that are very important to me and that ultimately have touched every person living in the United States. The organizations I speak of are Ally’s House in Oklahoma City and The Warrior Foundation of San Diego, California.
Ally’s House is an organization that provides support to families who have children battling cancer. Whether this support comes in the form of financial or emotional, Ally’s house has helped hundreds of children and their families by helping to pay their medical expenses, travel expenses, mortgage/rent payments and/or funeral expenses to name a few.
The health care crisis facing this country will no doubt continue to take center stage as we approach the 2008 Presidential Election. As a nation we must find a solution to affordable health care. It is grass roots efforts spearheaded by organizations such as Ally’s House that help fill in some of the gap where current medical coverage is either insufficient or just simply unaffordable for some families.

The Warrior Foundation is an organization that helps our military men and women who come back from the war in the Middle East having suffered severe disabling injuries. As with health care, the war on terror is yet another hot topic consuming the candidates and our nation in the upcoming Presidential Election. Whether we as a people agree with the country’s position in the Middle East or not it is not the debate here. My position is that I, as with every American living under the blanket of freedom that our Warriors provide, have an obligation to help protect them after they have so graciously and honorably fought to protect all of us.
The Warrior Foundation provides financial, emotional and psychological support in several ways including, but not limited to;
· Airline Tickets for out of town parents/spouses/children to visit their Warrior in the hospital upon their return from duty
· Motorized Wheelchairs
· Financial Management & Interviewing Consultation to help them in the Civilian world
· Basic daily necessities such as clothing
The goal is to make their transition from the military world to the civilian world as easy and as comfortable as possible. For most of these warriors, military life is all they have ever known since reaching adulthood. Often times they come back home wounded and with nothing but the clothes on their back.

I am 36 years old and an insulin dependent diabetic for 10 years now. I commit to you my heart and my legs to raising as much money for these soldiers as I possibly can. I am but one individual who, with the help of many of you, can really make a difference in so many lives.
Soldiers come in all sizes; from infant, toddler and teen cancer patients fighting for their lives to those brave young adults who sacrifice every day so you and I can enjoy the freedoms that can so easily be taken for granted.
I would like to ask for your support and pledge as I begin my training for this 1,500 mile journey in October of 2008.
